to book a practical driving test
Practical
test appointments can be booked online, by phone and by post and subject to you
giving us ten clear working days notice, can be changed and cancelled using our
telephone service. Remember
the more flexible you can be in selecting a driving test centre the earlier the
Driving Standards Agency (DSA) may be able to book you an assessment test. You
can find a list of practical test centres on the reverse of the practical test
application form, which you can download below, in the section called 'Booking

You
can book a practical test over the phone using the numbers below, from 8.00 am
to 6.00 pm, Monday to Friday, and 8.00 am to 4.00 pm on Saturdays.

by postTo
book a practical test by post you will need an application form. Payment can be
made by cheque or postal order, but cash payments are not accepted. Application
forms are available online or on request from the Driving Standards Agency booking
line. To
download a practical test application form, click on the link below. There is
also an information sheet available to download. Special
needsIf
you require any special needs facilities at your practical test you will need
to request these at the time of booking. Rescheduling
and cancelling a testYou can reschedule
or cancel a practical test over the phone up to ten clear working days before
the test, without loss of fee. To change or cancel your test date over the phone
you should use the driving test booking line. If
you cancel or reschedule the test inside the ten working days you will lose your
test fee. Advanced
speech recognition (ASR) systemIf you already
have a practical test booking but would like an earlier date, you can access the
Driving Standards Agency's advanced speech recognition (ASR) system by dialling
the booking line and following the instructions. ASR
will enable you to change your practical test booking to an earlier date where
available, without the need to speak with a call centre agent. The
system is available between 6.30 am and midnight, seven days a week. You
must have your theory test pass certificate number and your booking application
reference number with you when you call.
